The DOJ is being pushed by a U.S. Senator to appeal the decision to deny Public Safety Officers' Benefits to a Baltimore cadet killed during a live burn training exercise in 2007.
Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) sent a letter on Dec. 4) to Attorney General Eric Holder, which included a letter from Baltimore Fire Chief James Clack that certified Cadet Rachael Wilson's authority to act as a firefighter during the day of her death.
Last month, the PSOB Office denied benefits Wilson's family, saying that it had not been established that she had the authority.
